  • Prayer Potions
  • 1 set of Watchtower Teleport Runes (2 Earth Runes, 2 Law Runes)
  • 1 set of Falador Teleport Runes (1 Water Rune, 1 Law Rune, 3 Air Runes)

Starting the Quest

Bank and either withdraw 50 Gold Pieces or a Ring of Charos(a) (remember to wield it). Also withdraw a charged Amulet of Glory to teleport to Draynor Village (or alternatively bring Lumbridge Teleport Runes), 5 Blood Runes, 10 Mist Runes, and 10 Lava Runes. If you do not have these Runes, you can purchase them from the Mage Training Arena or create them yourself. See below for more details on how to make the Runes. Head to the Tree Gnome Stronghold by taking the Gnome Glider (only available after completing the Grand Tree), or the Tree Spirit (only available after completing the Tree Gnome Village), or walk there from Ardougne.

There will be a River between the western Wall of the Tree Gnome Stronghold and the Wall that divides up the mountains near Prifddinas. Walk north along the western side of the River, outside of the Tree Gnome Stronghold Walls. At the end of the River, you will see a Woman (Kathy Corkat) and a Man. Speak to Kathy Corkat and ask her to take you up the River to the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. The Boat fare is 50 Gold Pieces, or if you are wearing your Ring of Charos(a), you can get to the Colony for free. Once you arrive on the Piscatoris Fishing Colony, head along the Coast just a bit northwest until you see a Quest Start symbol on your Mini-Map.

Standing near the Quest Start symbol you should see a Man (Herman Caranos) beside a Hole in the Ground, just south of a Wall. Speak to Herman Caranos and ask what the rush is about. You will then find out that Sea Trolls are attacking the Fishing Colony. Tell him that you are an Adventurer and that you are prepared to help the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. You are then told by Herman Caranos to fetch the Wise Old Man from Draynor Village.

The Wise Old Man and Runes

You now have the option to watch a cutscene. You may choose to skip the cutscene if you wish.

After the cutscene teleport to Draynor Village using your Amulet of Glory and head to the Wise Old Man who can be found just north of the Draynor Village Bank. He will tell you that he will help the Piscatoris Fishing Colony and use this Quest as his Swan Song.

He will then say that you need to fetch him 5 Blood Runes, 10 Mist Runes, and 10 Lava Runes. You have the following options to obtain these Runes:
  1. You can purchase these Runes at the Mage Training Arena, north of the Dueling Arena. One Blood Rune costs 2 Telekinetic, 2 Alchemist, 25 Enchantment, and 2 Graveyard Pizzazz Points. One Mist Rune costs 1 Telekinetic, 1 Alchemist, 15 Enchantment, and 1 Graveyard Pizzazz Points. One Lava Rune costs 1 Telekinetic, 1 Alchemist, 15 Enchantment, and 1 Graveyard Pizzazz Points.

  2. You can create your own Combination Runes, however Level 23 Runecrafting is required. You will need a Talisman, Runes, and Pure Rune Essence; a Binding Necklace is also recommended. To make Mist Runes, you will need to either head to the Air Altar with 1 Water Talisman, 15 Water Runes, 15 Pure Rune Essence; or head to the Water Alter with 1 Air Talisman, 15 Air Runes, and 15 Pure Essence. Using either of those combinations, use the Talisman on the corresponding Altar to combine your Runes. The process is the same for Lava Runes; however you will either need to go to the Fire Altar with 1 Fire Talisman, 15 Fire Runes and 15 Pure Rune Essence, or go to the Earth Altar with 1 Earth Talisman, 15 Earth Runes and 15 Pure Rune Essence.

  3. Purchase them from other Players.
After obtaining these Runes, head back to the Wise Old Man in Draynor Village and speak to him. He will tell you to meet him at the Fishing Colony. For this section of the Quest, bring your combat Armour, Weapon, and Food; Prayer Potions are optional. In your Inventory, bring 1 Log of any kind, 1 Tinderbox, 5 Iron Bars, 1 Hammer, and 1 set of Watchtower Teleport Runes.

Defending and Repairing the Fishing Colony

Now go back to the Fishing Colony by talking to Kathy Corkat near the Boat again. You will not need to pay 50 Gold Pieces this time, even if you are not wielding a Ring of Charos(a). Go back to the Hole northwest of where you landed and you will see the Wise Old Man where Herman Caranos used to be. Speak to the Wise Old Man; he will tell you to prepare for battle. When you are ready, tell him that you are ready.

Click on the Hole to climb into it and you will appear on the other side of the Wall. Three Sea Trolls will now emerge from the Water and attack you. They are level 79 and use Melee attacks. After killing one, another one will emerge from the Water. You will need to kill seven in total. The Wise Old Man will help with Magic but will eventually run out of Runes and will have to throw Rocks instead.

Once you have killed all seven Sea Trolls, open the Colony Gates. The Wise Old Man will tell you to speak to Herman Caranos. Head northeast of the Gates to Herman's Office which is east of the Furnace Room. Speak to Herman there and the Wise Old Man will appear. He will then tell you to help Franklin Caranos and Arnold Lydspor.

Speak to Franklin Caranos who is by the Colony Gates where you entered from. He will tell you that you need 5 Iron Sheets to repair the Colony's Wall. Head inside the Furnace Room north of Franklin and there will be a large two-sided Machine in the middle Room. The east side of the Machine is the Firebox and the west side is the Metal Press. Use your Log of any kind on the Firebox and then use your Tinderbox on the Firebox to light it. Head to the west side of the Machine to use the Metal Press; use 5 Iron Bars on the Metal Press to create 5 Iron Sheets. Now head to the west side of the Colony where there is a Broken Wall and repair the five parts of the Broken Wall by using your Iron Sheets on each part.

Speak to Arnold Lydspor in the Bank. He will tell you that the Colony has run out of Food and that you need to fish fresh Monkfish. He will also give you a Small Fishing Net. Head to the northwest corner of the Colony and click on the Fishing Spot to fish for Monkfish. It is slower than fishing for Swordfish but faster than fishing for Sharks. Occasionally, your fishing activity will stir up a Sea Troll. There will be three Sea Trolls that appear and attack you, level 69, level 87, and then level 101, one at a time. Speak to Arnold once you have fished 5 Monkfish. He will tell you to cook the Monkfish. Head southwest to the Kitchen and cook your Monkfish. If you burn any, you can always fish for some more. Head back to Arnold and give him the 5 Cooked Monkfish.

Gathering an Army for the Final Battle

Go back and speak to Herman Caranos in his Office. He will tell you to speak to Wizard Frumscone in Yanille's Wizards' Guild to create an army of Zombies. Teleport to the Watchtower and then head to the basement of the Wizards' Guild. Speak to Wizard Frumscone and tell him your situation. He will tell you to speak to Malignius Mortifer, who is south of Falador along with the other Elemental Wizards.

Now head to the upper Floor of the Wizards' Guild and use the southern Portal to teleport to the Dark Wizards' Tower, west of Falador. Alternatively, you can bank and withdraw your Falador Teleport Runes, teleport to Falador and walk to the Dark Wizards' Tower from Falador. For this part, you will need seven normal Bones. You may wish to take your Pickaxe with you if you do not have a Pot Lid and Pot already. You can also kill the Cows for normal Bones in the Crafting Guild, which is located south of Falador.

Head south of Falador; at the intersection of the Road that leads to Rimmington and the Crafting Guild, you will find Malignius Mortifer. Speak to him and tell him your situation. He will laugh and agree to help you. He will tell you to give him seven normal Bones to create Bone Seeds to summon an Army. You will say that you have them with you. He will tell you to speak to the Master Crafters in the Crafting Guild about how to transport your Bone Seeds. He will give you a Brown Apron to wear, so you can enter the Crafting Guild.

Equip your Brown Apron and head west to the Crafting Guild. Go inside the Guild and speak to the Master Crafter that has short light brown Hair. He will tell you that a Pot with a Pot Lid will suffice as a transport device for the Bone Seeds.

If you do not have a Pot Lid and Pot already, mine two pieces of Clay, which can be found in the Crafting Guild. Pick up the empty Jug on the Table north of the Pottery Wheels. Use the Jug on the Sink near the southern Wall. Wet your Clay to make Soft Clay, then use your Soft Clay on the Pottery Wheels to make a Pot Lid and Pot. Use the Unfired Clay items on the Pottery Oven that is located in the northwest corner of the Guild. Please note that once you give the Pot Lid and Pot to Malignius Mortifer, you will be teleported to the Colony. Take the opportunity of being at the Crafting Guild to go to the Bank in Falador and prepare for battle.

The Final Battle for the Fishing Colony

The Creature you will face is level 170 and is weak against Ranged attacks.

Note:You must stand in front of the Queen if you are going to use a protection Prayer. This is because if your Character has a protection Prayer turned on and you are standing a distance away from the Queen, she will use Magic attacks that will drain your Prayer Points significantly until they reach zero. Her Magic casting speed is slightly faster than the normal Magic casting speed.

You have two choices of attack styles:
  1. Ranged/Magic:

Equipment - Dragonhide or Karil's Armour, Bow, Arrows
Type of Prayer to Use - Protection against Melee (Remember to stand in front of the Queen before turning this Prayer on)
    Creature's Attack Style - Magic

  2. Melee:

Equipment - Melee Armour, Melee Weapon
Type of Prayer to Use - Protection against Magic
    Creature's Attack Style - Melee

Head back to Malignius Mortifer with your Pot Lid and Pot and speak to him. Tell him that you have something to transport the Bone Seeds in. He will tell you not to open it until the battle. He will then teleport you to the Fishing Colony. Enter the Hole and go back to Herman's Office and tell Herman that you have an Army ready.

You will now watch a battle cutscene here. At the end of it, the level 170 Sea Troll Queen will appear. Kill the Queen and go back to Herman's Office.

After a humorous conversation, Herman Caranos will finally reward you.
