Quest Start: Farm Ruins northwest of Clan Wars
- Speak to summer and you will get taken to a white realm which is between the normal world, and the other realm.. a cutscene takes place and explains that the beast is getting through the realms in his own fashion and will start feeding off the souls of regular runescapers!
- Agree to help them, and discover that you need to lure the spirit beast into a cave just north of the settlement. You can not use the same familiars as for the spirit of summer because the beast will recognise them, remember you used a pouch made from gold, green and crimson charms.
- If you head north you will see a cave which is closed off. Return to the normal world, and you find a cave in same place, which is open. Upon entering, search the nearby skeleton to get bronze pickaxe, mithril axe, spade and a tinderbox - keep these! Now exit again and "collapse" the cave by selecting the right click option with your pickaxe either equipped or in your inventory. Then then return to the other realm by operating jennica's ring on the portal.
- Now when you return to the cave you will see that you can enter it. You do not need to yet, but It may be a good idea just to get a feel for the place.
- Bank, and store your pickaxe. you no longer need it. Withdraw your hatchet and some pouches. Albino rat are the lowest level, however you can use any pouch which requires a blue charm. Make sure at this point you get at least 3 super energy potions and the rest of your inventory shark or higher.
- Simply head back into the other realm and head north. You will see the beast. Wait a while until it is close to the cave then summon your familiar. Lure the beast until it is close to the cave and then go inside. It may take a few tries, but it'll work eventually.
- TURN ON YOUR SOUND
- A cutscene will play explaining how you can use the cursed roots which are in the cave to trick the beast. Declare that you are ready to go and you will be in the cave with the beast. You need to chop the roots and pile 5 logs in a fire pit. When you light it the spirit beast will be injured and slightly weakened. You need to do this three times. All of the time while you are fighting the spirit beast will shoot a white missile at you, this hits hard (reportedly up to 30) and then splits up into between 3 and 5 more white missiles which also hit hard.
- When the beast is "loading" his attack he will make a "bloobloobloo" noise. As soon as you hear it run away and try to make sure you are out of its splash range. This may sound complicated but as soon as you see it it is really easy.
- After lighting three seperate fires another cutscene ensues. Jallek appears and smashes the protective chest plate of the beast. Then a message will come up saying "The beast appears to have had enough, and walks into the next room".
- I advise banking now and storing your hatchet. Withdraw more food and energy potions, and also your spade.
- Follow the beast and go through the passage. Another cutscene ensues explaining that they have managed to shatter the beast's breast plate. Jallek explains that all of the souls of the other spirits are inside, and that we must act quickly now while the beast is weakened. You are told how when the beast opens up, parts of your soul will attempt to return to you. You must lure these parts away from the beast, but not let them get back to you or else you will feel extreme pain.
- What happens now is similar to the first room, the same white missiles, and the same damage, however they are faster and more frequent than before. Run round in a circle slowly making sure you are out of reach of the splash damage from the missiles. A message will appear in yoru chat box saying that a core has been released. Now you need to lure this over to one of the "soft soil" spots. Head on over (remember you are still under heavy attack) and dig the soft soil. Stand behind it and the core will get trapped in the hole.
- If you miss your core, the beast will devour it and you will have to try again. The time between the core's release increases significantly towards the third and final core.
- After three trapped cores, a short cutscene will ensue and you will learn that the beast has ventured yet further into the cave.
- Follow through and pay attention to the next cutscene. The spirits will explain that they will now be able to finish off the beast. However, you need to match the colour/shape to the corresponding soul. Do this when the beast is "loading" or "foaming" as i would call it.
- Fortunately there is an altar in the room you can use to recharge your prayer. I didn't notice this so it took me a few extra trips.
- WARNING, the beast hits very hard, multiple times.
- Basically, watch where the sprites go (red blue and yellow) each one will go to a grave. All you need to do is bless the correct coloured grave to launch the backlash. So.. if the beast is "foaming yellow" you need to bless the grave where the yellow sprite went. You need to bless each grave once. If you get it wrong you will get hit hard, and lose a considerable chunk of your prayer points.
- Finally, you will hit the final backlash and the spirit beast will die. A cutscene follows and then you are given the opportunity to go back to the farm with the elders. Select yes and then talk to the elders again.
- Another, rather more emotive, cutscene will then follow and you will be rewarded. As a future note, do not attempt to kill the beast alone. It is impossible.
