Start point: The High Priest in Sophanem Temple

Map of the area

Part 1. Starting the Quest
Items Needed: none.

  1. Make your way to the temple in Sophanem and talk to the High Priest.

  2. He will tell you the situation and send you upstairs to identify a dead body which turns out to be Maisa, Osman's spy from "Contact!". It turns out she isn't dead and gives you the task to kill the scarabites.

  3. Go downstairs again and talk to the high priest to get the go ahead from him to begin your search. He'll agree with Maisa's ideas and send you off to the east.

Part 2. The Smelly Crate
Items Needed: 8 Bronze Bars, Camel or Ugthanki Dung, 10 Gold Pyramid Plunder Artefacts, 1 Gold Artefact from atop the Desert Agility Pyramid, and about 100 Gold Pieces.
  1. Now exit Sophanem out the east exit and keep heading east until you get to a swamp. Once at the swamp start working your way through to get to the fallen pillar to the northwestern part of the swamp. Instead of just passing through you'll have to push through reeds by right clicking the reeds in the path.

  2. Once up you'll be see 2 archaeologists just to the west of you. Talk to Lead Archaeologist Abigail and she'll give a task to deliver items to Simon Templeton, but not before you get a math test. It's nothing difficult if you have a calculator. She'll then tell you to get antiqued bronze items that can be made from 18 bronze bars and camel dung, 10 gold pyramid plunder artefacts, and the gold artefact from the top of the desert agility pyramid.

  3. Here you can either teleport out or make your way to Nardah to smith your items. An alternative would be buying from a shop or the Grand Exchange if available. To get the Camel Dung you can head to Pollnivneach and purchase hot sauce from the kebab vendor. Head south to the Camel pen and put the sauce in the trough. You only need one bucket of camel dung for all of your bronze items. Alternatively for the Camel Dung you can go to Al Kharid and talk to a Camel with your Camulet and ask the camel to well, give you his dung. For the gold artefact from atop of the desert agility pyramid you will need to climb the stones on the west side of the top layer of the pyramid then exit through the door..

  4. Give the items to Simon Templeton once done and he will give you a receipt to give back to Lead Archaeologist Abigail.

Part 3. The levers and the High Priest of the Scarabas
Items Needed: Good Armor and Weapon, Food, 1 or 2 Prayer Potions, and a Super Attack, Super Strength, and Super Defense.
  1. Give the receipt to Lead Archaeologist Abigail and she will give you a diary to fill. Go north and kill any monsters to get 4 pages to fill the diary. It should only take about 10 monsters or less.

  2. Once the diary is filled talk to Abigail again and she will give you a key. Head north once again into the dungeon. You will see a golem to your south. Talk to him and he'll explain how you can put steam into each room depending on your weaknesses and strengths. Go north and take logs out of the storage box and put them in the furnace and return to the golem.

  3. The 4 rooms contain levers, with a different skill being used in each. The Empty Room contains a lever where you need high strength to pull it. The Scarab Room contains a level-206 Giant Scarab where you'll need good combat skills. The mysterious room which contains a memory game. The Narrow Room is the Agility Room. So if you have high agility (80+) you'll want to use the least amount of energy on this.

To put it simply: put what your weakest first and what you're strongest at last. I suggest Narrow Room (Agility), Mysterious (Memory), Empty (Strength), and then the Scarab (Combat).

  4. Tell the Golem to start and enter the rooms the way you told them to him. The Agility is self explanatory. .

The Memory room is rather tricky. You have to find all 3 matches of the rune to each other, remember they flip over once you flip 3. For an easier time, get a pad of paper and make a 6x6 grid on it. Write each of the runes you turn over on the paper until all of the runes are uncovered. To get extra turns right click on the cogs where you'll be able to receive 5 more turns for as many as you flip for a maximum of 15.

The Empty Room you just walk in and pull the lever. Super set up and pray Mage to the Scarab and you'll kill him.

  5. Now you're able to go through the passageway once you talk to the golem. Go through and head as far as you can northeast to find the room with the High Priest of Scarabas in it. Talk to him and tell him you are here to avenge Kaleef's death. The Scarabas will then fight you, put on protect from mage and get him to 3/4 health. By then he should have stopped fighting you. Talk to him again and ask him "By all the deities, what is going on here?" Once the next menu comes up pick "Sounds like the Devourer dragged you into heresy for her own ends."

Congratulations! You have completed the quest!
