Love Poem Contest Winners

In honor of Valentine's Day, we here at The Villager held a contest for all the poets of Rune Village. It was a simple challenge, really. Just come up with a poem about your dearest love and submit it to us. We received a lot of really good poems and after a hard time judging and figuring out which ones were best, we have come up with the winners. Congratulations to you all. And the winners are...

Third Place: I don't think it has a title but it's by Pi E

I lay awake on my bed
Rain falls down, never-ending
Thoughts of you race through my head
wishing, wanting, needing you to be here.

The room is dark, no one is around
the darkness seems to become dim,
the more I think about you.
The dark fades away until light has shone through
one thing on my mind, not mistakenly, you.

Your my everything, why life’s worth living.
Without you here, the days would be gray.
Nothing would be worth while,
even living life in general wouldn’t be worth it
because I couldn't go a day without your smile.

What I'm saying isn't hard at all,
3 simple words are put to the test
meant by some, faked by the rest.
Only by taking chances, you will find the one
but look no further, you’re search has come to an end
I'm standing right in front of you.

These words, I have waited the longest time to say
would you be the one,
the one ill love and hold
until the end of the world
until this world grows old.

These words I speak
come straight from the heart.
It seems nothing can tear our bond apart.
No matter who tries, or what they do
just remember these words
I'll always love you.

Second Place: "Fortune Worth The Fight" by Uli Ruddle

Fortune Worth The Fight

Fortune found while still a child
Keeping it is the largest trial

In our youth we believed forever
Yet there are times when you think them the devil

Soon united through mind, body, and Spirit
Feeling so happy yet
For some reason you fear it

Times come and go yet I have learned
One small lesson that would help this world:

"Love is not a feeling that you get once a night
But something that makes you willing to fight
Love is not money but relationships you build
Hoping they grow, never to be sealed"

So when you join, both you and your friend,
Remember this poem and what I have said
That Love's not a feeling but something to fight for
Worth pain,
Worth sorrow,
Worth every tomorrow

First Place: "Dietary Heart" by Uli Ruddle

Dietary Heart

Ok Folks here is my second poem. Due to the complications of word placement and the overall feel of the poem when done without the rhythm I have supplied a sound sample of how it is suppose to go. Remember though that this is an Uli Rudde Original. I wrote this a while back, now it seems the time to show someone. So here it is...

And here are the Lyrics:

No doors, locks or entry ways,
Just a flicker in your eyes that I despise,
When you turn my way I want to say,

“You treat me like I’m Crippled,
Give me bad excuses why,
Play me on and tell me,
‘I’m a sweet guy’ But,
I love you,”

When we’re on the phone conversatin’,
First come the sighs then excuses,
Followed by the
“I don’t know whys”,
Well I do!

I’m always wanting yes or no,
No, nothing in-between,
I sit around just feeding off of my dreams,
Meanwhile wasting your time but,
You love me!

Life is up and down baby,
Always in-between like a magic carpet ride,
Nothing is clean; you still have to sweep the rug,
Once you’re done having fun.

Love ain’t all about the feelings that you get,
Way down deep inside,
There is something more that you can’t ignore,
Like your mind if grows off of everything it’s fed so,
Do you have a healthy love?

Get a treadmill of compassion,
Or weights of understanding

Congrats again to the winners and thanks to everyone who entered a poem. They were all really good and it made judging them difficult. Happy Valentine's Day.
